Exasol began in the 1990s as a research and student project at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) in Germany.
The researchers and students realized that future datasets would grow exponentially, so they set out to design a high-performance analytics database. In 2000, they spun off from the university to formally found the company Exasol AG. Today, the Nuremberg-based company has grown into an enterprise that helps organizations turn complex data into fast, trusted insights.
Exasol is the sovereign analytics database built for the performance and scale required for high-concurrency AI and analytics workloads. It enables organizations to control data, execution and governance across the environments they choose, while giving developers and data teams the speed and confidence to build, test and deploy applications and AI agents faster.
